I have often thought about going into a career in teaching. I’ve taken part in quite a lot of activities where I’ve gone into schools and run workshops and given presentations to assemblies. I think it could be a very rewarding career.
However I do know that being a teacher is a very difficult job. There is lots of paperwork to do, work to set, lessons to plan, homework to mark, lessons to teach, reports to write, practicals to set up, in addition to all the work involved with controlling a class and dealing with any problems within the classroom (but I’m sure that’s not the case in your school). A job in teaching can take up a large part of your spare time and can be quite stressful and tiring.
I do still think about possibly moving into a career in teaching, and I do have a lot of respect for teachers who do a very worthwhile and difficult job.

Hello again kathrynduffy3 πŸ™‚ Good question.

When I was at university I was also a mentor at a high school in the Design and Technology department. I enjoyed it very much and yes, I would consider teaching as well.

Hi kathryn! I have taught a few courses in the U.S. on nanotechnology (for college students). I would love to teach more of such courses in the future!

I have taught science and technology subjects before. And I would (hope) to continue teaching design and technology subjects (relevant to my area- biomedical engineering).

I have no clue about Resistant Materials, so I won’t be teaching that…

I’m afraid it sounds like you know more about resistant materials than I do! πŸ˜‰
