There are always at least some boring bits. 🙂

Lucky for me I don’t have many boring bits. Sometimes, for my writing job, I have to write some stories that are not about science and engineering much, and these are kind of boring for me. As an engineer, I used to have to analyze cancer cells under the microscope – although it sounds very cool, 4 hours in a dark microscope room can get a bit tiresome! But overall, I liked my job as an engineer and I love my job as an engineering communicator.

I would say that the biggest part of my job is very interesting and exciting, however unfortunately Paige is right, there will always be boring bits in your job. The trick is knowing how to deal with them.
For example sometimes I have to record information on a computer programme when a design has been changed. This is important because it helps to tell other engineers why the change has happened and makes everyone aware that the product now has to be made differently.

I would much prefer to always be designing things and working out how to make things stronger and work better, but I do understand that keeping accurate records is important because it could cause a big problem and be very expensive if a change goes unnoticed. I would get very annoyed if I spent all morning working on a change, only to discover that the change had already been made without the information being updated correctly!

Hello daviesI3. We meet again. 🙂

I can honestly say, there are no boring bits in my job and I love everything I do.

Sometimes when I am working on something I get a little tired of it, but it’s ok, because there are so many other things that need doing, I can go and do something else instead. Then I can go back to the other things later when I’m not so tired of it.

      Hi daviesl3,
      as Paige, Martin say….
most part of my job is very exciting but there are some bits which I find boring. But that is just the nature of any work….

I’m afraid there are boring bits in any job… my one is no exception!
There are bits of paperwork that we have to do, for example filling in how many hours you have worked on each project every week, or writing up the document that will help your manager decide how well you have done at the end of the year. Sometimes writing up some work that has taken many months can be less exciting than doing the work. It all needs doing though, because if you just did your work and didn’t tell anyone about it noone would learn from it!
