Hello phillipsc. Great to meet you. 🙂

Engineering relates to everybody and everything we do every single day of our lives.

This includes everything from the toothpaste you use in the morning, to your iPhones, facebook apps, medical devices, transport, energy, defence, buildings and every thing in your homes, schools, hospitals…the list is endless!

      Good question. 🙂

Hi Phillip!!! What a great question!!!

I think that beyond the technology that we use everyday that is made by engineers (whether I cross a bridge to get to work in the morning made by a civil engineer or type this question on my phone made by a computer engineer), engineering also changes the way you LOOK at life!!!!

Engineers think very logically… lots of engineers approach problems in life more methodologically because of their training in logic and design!! As an engineer, you are always thinking ‘how could I make this better or more efficient? How would I design this differently?’. As a engineer, you recognize more things all around you that were probably designed and built by an engineer, because only an engineer would think that way!!!!!!!

I would say that engineering is everywhere! Everything you use has had some form of engineering associated with it:
Cars needed engineers to design them, roads require civil engineers, mobile phones and computers need electrical engineers. Mechanical engineers design air-conditioning systems; building require engineers to be built, bikes, aeroplanes, satellites, electricity pylons, power stations, water pipes, all these require engineers to make them and keep them working. Engineers build airports, hospitals, fire engines, furniture, games consoles. Software engineers are used by an incredible amount of industries, from television broadcasters, to the hospital beds that I work on.
I’ll stop giving examples now, as I could go on forever, but basically everything you touch with your hands, an engineer had something to do with it.
