I have had a couple of jobs before this one.
After university I got a job as an engineer with a spacecraft manufacturer in Portsmouth. This was really interesting and I enjoyed the work very much. In that time I got married and after 5 years we decided to move back to Yorkshire where we have a lot of friends and family.
When we moved I got a job with a company that made air-conditioning systems. The work was relatively interesting but the people in the office were nowhere near as friendly or as helpful as I’d thought they would be and a lot of the time they didn;t give me much work to do – that might sound good, but for an engineer it is INCREDIBLY frustrating – so I got bored very quickly.
I decided that even though I hadn’t been there very long I needed to find a new job – which I did and now I couldn’t be happier. I really enjoy the work, the people, and the environment. I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can do in this role and what new products I can come up with.

Not as such. Having done chemical engineering I was pretty sure I wanted to work in the pharmaceutical industry, and I was lucky enough to get a job where I wanted first time round.
I had various other jobs while I was at uni, but they were never meant to be a career (although I did enjoy being a waitress for a time)

Hello again lob123. Another interesting question. 🙂

I was a Nanny when I left school.
Then I worked in the hospitality industry (bars, restaurants, hotels) for a number of years before I went to university to study Product Design and Manufacture.

I like the job I have now the best, because it keeps me busy and I learn new things every day. I found my other jobs quite mundane and repetitive.

I have always been a biological engineering student or a science writer… but if I could, I would try environmental engineering or being a science teacher!

No, since completing my undergrad I have worked in Biomedical engineering.

But as biomedical engg is a big area, I worked on various things………..
As a graduate engineer, I worked on X-ray devices used for repairing clogged hearts
In my MSc, I worked on MRI images, to separate brain tumors
For my PhD, I worked on a vibration device to improve muscle strength
Now I am working on artificial knees……….
