answered on 12 Mar 2012:
Hi, Lacey. I took a mixture of subjects for my GCSEs:
Design Technology (Textiles)
I was a lot better in some of these subjects than others.
laceyc commented on 12 Mar 2012:
Okay, so did you choose what job you wanted to do based on how good you were in these subjects?

Hi, laceyc, didn’t realise you’d left a comment here.
I chose my A-levels based on how good I was at these subjects. My best subjects were Maths, Science and English. I was going to take an English Literature A-level but I was convinced to study Psychology instead, which I really enjoyed.
At the end of A-levels I was better at Maths and Physics which is why I chose Engineering.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what career you want to follow, just try your best at everything, and carry on those things you’re good at, and those things you enjoy.

I hope Martin doesn’t mind me butting in. 🙂
I wasn’t very good at maths when I was at school, but at university I was very good and I got very high marks. I understood maths a lot better when I was older and I found it very easy.
So if I had based my decision to become an engineer on my school grades at maths, I wouldn’t be an engineer today.
What revision techniques do you suggest for exams in engineering subjects such as Resistant Materials?
What subjects did you have to study at Uni, to become an engineer involved with medicine?
Would you ever consider a career in teaching Resistant Materials, or other Design and Technology subjects?
Do you have to have education after sixth form (eg uni) to be successful, or can you start from the bottom and work
What advice woud you give to someone wishing to go into engineering?
